In Minnesota there is not a state law that requires the auto insurer to waive your deductible for windshield repairs or replacements. With some insurance companies, there is a type of optional full glass coverage that is available in MN for you to add to your policy. With this type of coverage you can choose to have no deductible to get your windshield repaired.
If you use your comprehensive coverage then your deductible would normally apply if you get your windshield repaired or replaced. There are some insurance companies that will waive your deductible and pay for the car windshield repair though. This approach can save the insurance carrier from having to pay for a more costly windshield replacement when the glass eventually cracks from not being repaired.
