QuestionInsurance Question  I was wondering on a provisional license in New Jersey, are seventeen year olds allowed to drive out of state? I have heard people say both yes and no. I would like some clarification.

AnswerAuto Insurance Answer

We have contact the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission for clarification on if minors with only a provisional license are allowed to drive out of state. The representative that responded stated that as long as you hold a valid New Jersey Provisional Driver License you can drive out of state.

The NJ MVC representative noted that all driving restrictions stay with you even out of state. So if you drive out of New Jersey with a provisional license you will need to abide by the conditions associated with this type of license. You also should check with the state in which you plan on driving into to see if they will place any additional restrictions on you.
