You should check with the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to find out all of the possible ramifications stemming from this Florida ticket that you received. Since it is unlikely that you were pulled over for only for the offense of driving against the restrictions of your learner's permit, keep in mind that any other violation (such as speeding) that you were also ticketed for could affect your ability to receive a full driver's license in Nevada.

As you should be aware of now, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (HSMV) states that you can drive in FL with an out of state permit, provided that you follow the restrictions of your permit and you must have a supervising over 21 years of age fully licensed driver in the passenger seat with you at all times.

Florida statute 322.1615 pertains to earner's driver's license. Here it states under subsection 2 that when operating a motor vehicle, the holder of a learner's driver's license must be accompanied at all times by a driver who:

• Holds a valid license to operate the type of vehicle being operated;
• Is at least 21 years of age; and
• Occupies the closest seat to the right of the driver of the motor vehicle.

Under FL law a licensee who violates these conditions is subject to the civil penalty imposed for a moving violation and is also fined.

Nevada does allow you to drive out of state with your permit, but with restrictions. The NV DMV notes that if you are visiting another state you should be able to drive with a Nevada Instruction Permit as long as you follow the laws of the other state as they pertain to having a licensed driver with you, curfews, etc.

Now if you are convicted of the FL ticket for the violation of your learner's permit, and any other violation you may have been cited for, the Florida court will report this back to Nevada. Both are members of the Drivers License Compact (DLC). The Nevada DMV notes that specifically that any out of state conviction will become part of your Nevada driving record. Out-of-state convictions do not generate demerit points though on your NV driving record.

So being convicted of the driving alone without the required supervising driver for your instruction permit may cause you a delay in being able to apply for a full Nevada driver's license. The DMV of Nevada notes that to apply for a full license you must be 16 years of age (you are already 18 so no problem there) and you must also:

• hold a valid instruction permit for at least six months prior to applying,
• have no at-fault accidents in the six months prior to applying,
• have no moving violation convictions in the six months prior to applying,
• have no alcohol or drug convictions of any kind in the six months prior to applying.

So any offenses you are convicted of in Florida could make you need to wait at least 6 months to apply for a full NV driver's license. Again you should contact the NV DMV directly though to get complete information on how the Florida ticket(s) will affect you getting a driver's license and if they will affect you in any other pay as well.
