Yes, you need to inform the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) of your change of address within the state so that your registration address can be correctly in their system. If you have moved you must notify the MVA of your new address since the address they have on file for you is where they would send your renewal for your registration and then your registration and sticker. You can place your change of address request with the MD MVA online.
When you put in your change of address information a formal change of address packet will be sent to your new address by the MD MVA. For security purposes a confirmation notice will be sent to your previous address on file. The MVA notes that new addresses must be Maryland residential addresses. Upon successful completion of change of address transaction you will receive a MVA Change of Address attachment card.
You should of course also inform the Maryland MVA of your change of address for your driver's license record as well.
You also need to inform your insurance company of the address change within Maryland since they need to know where the car is driven, how far to work and other information that may affect your rates. Also if you are in an accident but did not inform them and the terms of your policy require you to tell them of the change your claims may be able to be delayed or denied.
