A COUPLE have appeared in court accused of stealing fuel worth more than pounds 1,000 from 13 garages over almost three weeks.
Keith Barnes and Jade Ashley Robinson are jointly charged with 13 offences of theft from garages in different areas of County Durham between May 10 and May 28 this year.
The couple, of Mitford Drive, Sherburn Village, near Durham, appeared before Consett magistrates yesterday.

Robinson, 20, is also accused of two offences of allowing Barnes to use a car without insurance and possessing a car contrary to the Proceeds of Crime Act.
It is alleged the couple filled containers with fuel and then drove off from garages in Chester-le-Street, Blackhall, Wheatley Hill, Usher Moor, Carrville, Easington, Peterlee, Gilesgate and Bowburn.
Some of the offences are alleged to have been committed on the same day.
The value of the fuel ranged from pounds 14.63 to pounds 102.5. The total is pounds 1,115.35.
The magistrates declined jurisdiction and the case will be dealt with at Durham Crown Court.
The couple were remanded on unconditional bail.
The case is due to be committed to the higher court at a date to be set.
