How do I deal with someone with road rage?
One of the surest ways to trash an affordable auto insurance rate is to find yourself involved in a road rage incident. With more people spending more time on the road in more congested traffic, the number of incidents of road rage have also been increasing. Many instances of road rage involve extended interactions between two drivers. Even if one driver’s actions start the incident, it takes two people to escalate the incident to the point of road rage. Most often, incidents of road rage start with stressors that have nothing to do with traffic or driving. The incidents often result from one driver feeling insulted by another driver and feeling they need to retaliate. The easiest way to combat road rage is to end the hostility in one way or another and refuse to let it escalate. Driving defensively means letting the person yelling on their cell phone and weaving in and out of rush hour traffic cut you off and the backing off to let them get a safe distance ahead. If ever you feel threatened while driving, try to let the other driver get ahead of you so that you can keep them in your sight. Then pull into a well lit public area where other people are present. If necessary, you may also want to call the police. |
