One thing is true for each and every person - we all have our own special day. What do we call this special day, why our birthday of course. This is the day we call our own. Our friends and family give us gifts and we get to celebrate. If you are really lucky we get a really good gift, perhaps a precious gem for the month we were born in. This is called your birthstone. Here is a list of each month's birthstone.
January - Garnet
February - Amethyst
March - Aquamarine
April -Diamond
May -Emerald
June -Pearl
July -Ruby
August - Peridot
September - Sapphire
October - Opal
November - Topaz
December - Turquoise
A precious gem is something to be treasured. It is also something to be insured if it is worth enough. So once you enjoy the moment in which you receive it remember to get it put onto your homeowners policy. That way it will be covered if anything would happen to it in the future.
While you are adding your gem onto your policy maybe this is also the time to go through your policy to make sure it has everything covered that you need. Make sure that you are still getting the best price on your homeowners. Now that you are looking into it why not spend the extra time to shop around and make sure your current insurance company is still giving you the best price.
Since you always remember your birthday I find that this is the best time to remember to shop around to find if your homeowners, life and auto insurance is still the best rate. This may seem a little silly but you never forget your birthday so if you shop around each year the week of your birthday you are never going to forget when last looked at the price of different policies. It will come naturally after a few years. You'll be saying to yourself, hey my birthday is next month, time to check and make sure I am getting the best deals.
I keep waiting for the year when the birthday gift is going to make me look for insurance. Maybe you are lucky enough to have that happen - the car in the driveway with a big bow around it. Now that makes it the perfect time to find a policy, out of necessity, and then each year either renew it or shop around to make sure you have the best price still.
Remember each year to just make insurance shopping one of your birthday month errands. It isn't hard, doesn't take much time and hopefully you will need that new car insurance policy or insurance for a precious birthstone real soon.
