Do states require drivers to buy liability insurance?
Thursday, May 15, 2008 8:59 AM | My husband got a speeding ticket while vacationing in Vermont approx. 6 yrs ago. We were driving our own vehicle (i.e. Quebec plates). We are both Canadians and at this time we were living in Montreal, Quebec. He did not pay the ticket. We now live in Ontario, and have for the past 5 yrs, and we were planning on making a road trip to Boston.
My concern is that my husband's name could be on some sort of registry and then when we go through US customs they will either demand payment of the ticket (plus late penalties, etc) or outright arrest him. Could you please let me know what I can do to get this straightened out and if there would be any issues when we go through the border?
