Additional Information about your coverage:
Collision Coverage
Most basic insurance policies only include liability coverage which covers damages you cause to other vehicles. The Collision coverage covers damage to your car when your car hits, or is hit by, another vehicle, or other object. Pays to fix the damages to your vehicle minus a deductible you choose to pay out of pocket. Here we estimated the deductible based on your income. If you can afford it and don't mind the hassle of paying out of pocket each time, choose a larger deductible to keep your premiums lower.
This coverage is not a state requirement and if you own older cars, this coverage is not as necesary since the coverage is usually limited to the cash value of your car. Coverage is limited to the terms and conditions of your policy.
If you make payments for the vehicle, your lien holder will require this coverage.
You can click on the coverage selections above to learn more about them.
Comprehensive Coverage
The Comprehensive coverage covers damages to your vehicle caused by accidents other than collision. Some of these accidents that are covered by the comprehensive coverage include: damage to your car if it is stolen; damaged by flood, fire, or animals. This coverage also requires you to choose deductible that you pay out of pocket, and choosing a higher deductible will lower your premiums.
When you buy Collision you will likely be required to purchase Comprehensive Coverage. In some states, this is not a requirement.
Financed or Leased
Since you have financed or leased your vehicle, the lien holder may require you to purchase the Collision and Comprehensive coverage. Additionally, if you financed the car, you might be interested in getting GAP insurance to protect yourself when your vehicle is totalled and you owe more on your vehicle than the actual value of the vehicle.
You can purchase Loan/Lease Gap insurance with your auto policy at CarInsurance.com.
Vehicle in storage
People often over look the comprehensive coverage when their vehicle is in storage or if the vehicle just sits in the garage and is not driven, because they think accidents only happen on the road.
