Car Insurance Question  What does collision mean?

A dictionary definition of a collision is normally when 2 or more objects run into each other. So if two cars crash into each other or if a car runs into a tree it is considered a collision.

Collision automobile insurance is a type of physical damage coverage that is optional. When you purchase this type of policy it covers damage to your car when your vehicle hits, or is hit by, another vehicle or object or if your vehicle is in a roll-over accident.

This type of optional car insurance comes with a deductible amount, which you choose at the inception of your policy. You can typically lower your premium for this coverage if you choose a higher deductible amount.
