Allstate discounts and savings
Like most insurers, Allstate offers typical car insurance savings, such as a discount for bundling two or more policy types together. Other Allstate discounts include:
- Anti-lock brakes discount
- Anti-theft devices discount
- Responsible payer discount
- Good student discount
Another way to potentially save money is by enrolling in Allstate’s Drivewise telematics program. Drivewise is a feature of Allstate’s mobile app that tracks your driving habits, provides feedback on your driving behavior, and possibly helps you save money at renewal time.
This optional program is free to enroll, and you’ll save money just for signing up. The exact discount varies by state. Note that if Drivewise tracks poor driving habits like hard braking, speeding, and using your phone while driving, your premiums could increase.
Allstate’s coverage options
Allstate offers the basic bodily injury and property damage liability coverage that is required in almost all states.
These coverages help pay for expenses when you cause injury to another person or damage to their property. Allstate also offers several other coverage options that ensure you’re well-protected, including:
- Collision: This coverage pays to repair or replace your vehicle after a crash.
- Comprehensive: This coverage helps protect against other types of damage to your vehicle, such as hail, fire or theft.
- Medical payments: This coverage pays for medical expenses for you or your passengers if you’re hurt in an accident.
- Personal injury protection (PIP): Provides help with other costs after an accident, like lost wages or hospital bills.
- Uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage: This protection helps cover costs if you’re in an accident with a driver without sufficient car insurance.
- Rideshare: Allstate offers Ride for Hire® rideshare insurance to protect you while waiting for a ride request. It may also protect you beyond what’s provided by the rideshare network.
My experience getting a quote
Unfortunately, my experience getting a quote from Allstate was less than ideal.
First, I requested a quote online using Allstate’s website. I entered the ZIP code for my Pittsburgh-area home, but learned I could not complete the process online.

In case it was a coverage issue, I tried three other ZIP codes – one in Ohio, one in Illinois and one in California – and all three returned the same message.
I waited until the following morning during business hours and called an Allstate agent in my area. My call was answered with a recorded message, and then I was transferred to a human. Shortly after they said hello, the call was disconnected.
For my final attempt at requesting a quote, I called the 800 number listed in the message above (800-667-4669). After a recorded message directing my call, I was connected with a human, who walked me through the quote process.
After 21 minutes, I had my final quote: $164 per month for my husband and me for a 2015 Chevy Colorado and a financed 2025 Subaru Outback. My quote included 100/300/100 coverage for liability, a $500 deductible each for collision and comprehensive, and $10,000 in medical payments coverage, plus the rate for a separate roadside assistance policy.
Although I would have preferred to complete the process online, I was happy with the service and friendliness of the agent who assisted me.
